Why Christmas in Liverpool doesn’t stop on December 25th

It’s just days until the big day, but in Liverpool the festive magic doesn’t just vanish once the presents are unwrapped. This city has a way of keeping the season alive, which is why the Liverpool Winter Festival continues until January 4th.  We wanted to give Liverpool something big for the whole season, not just December.

The Pier Head is already one of those spots everyone knows and loves, and over the festival, it becomes a hub of rides, street food, ice skating, two bars, and plenty of spaces to just wander and soak up the atmosphere. The village is free to enter so anyone can pop by.

For families wanting the ultimate Christmas experiences, our Santa’s Grotto runs through to Christmas Eve, giving kids a festive story before meeting Santa himself. Booking ahead is best, if you fancy a last-minute dash, you might just get lucky.

After Christmas, the city feels different, in a good way. Schools are off, friends are catching up, and people are ready to get out and enjoy themselves. Keeping the festival open into January was always about Liverpool – a city that thrives on bringing people together, whatever the occasion.

So, even after Christmas itself, there’s every reason to head down to the waterfront. Because here, Christmas doesn’t have to end on the 25th, and honestly, why would you want it to?
