Cara Group Launches Training Programme to Empower Next Generation in Construction

Leading North West construction firm Cara Group has announced the launch of its new Future Skills Apprenticeship Programme, an initiative designed to equip the next generation of construction professionals with essential skills, hands-on experience and mentorship.

The programme, which will initially run as part of the company’s brickwork division, aims to meet the evolving demands of the industry while elevating its apprenticeship offerings.

The Future Skills Programme is a key component of Cara’s commitment to developing a skilled and innovative team, with operations based in Manchester, Yorkshire and Liverpool.

Neil Allen, Managing Director of Cara Brickwork, said: “This programme builds on our three decades of experience, offering apprentices the practical training, mentorship, and technical development needed to meet the challenges of the modern construction industry. We’re providing them with the tools, both physical and educational, to excel.”

A defining feature of Future Skills is its collaboration with Keystone Group and their subsidiary, Keyfix, which specialises in non-combustible cavity solutions for external masonry facades in buildings 11m+. This partnership takes Cara Brickwork’s Apprenticeship Scheme beyond the traditional training model, offering a more holistic development experience.

Neil added: “For several years, we sought a partner who could offer more than the standard support of clothing and tools. With Keyfix and Keystone Group, we’ve found the ideal partner to enhance the learning and development of our apprentices, providing them with the insights and hands-on opportunities they need to succeed.”

Thanks to this relationship, apprentices will gain access to large manufacturing facilities, where they can meet designers, manufacturers and sales teams to understand and install the products they will use in their careers. Additionally, the scheme provides apprentices with the opportunity to work with new and upcoming products, offering feedback while gaining experience with cutting-edge technology.

Neil said: “Continuous professional development is central to this programme. We’re ensuring our team members are not only equipped with the latest tools and technology but also safety and compliance knowledge that will keep them and their colleagues safe on-site.”

The Future Skills Programme also includes CPD (Continuous Professional Development) sessions, available at college or online, further enhancing apprentices’ skill sets and providing certifications as they progress in their careers.

In addition, Cara-branded clothing and tool kits will promote a sense of camaraderie among apprentices, and regular assessments will be conducted, with awards presented by Keyfix and Keystone Group leaders to celebrate progress and success.

Neil added: “At Cara Group, we believe in investing in our people. This initiative reflects our values as a business – bridging the gap between traditional construction methods and modern advancements.

“We’re not just maintaining our leadership in the industry, but we’re also contributing to the upskilling of the region’s workforce. Future Skills is our commitment to nurturing talent, driving innovation and ensuring our professionals are ready to meet the challenges of tomorrow.”
